The Comfort of Pears

There are few things in life as deeply comforting as painting pears. This was the first time I’d ever painted still life on a Belgian Linen canvas. It has such a rustic warmth to it, I wanted to leave bits exposed. The raw texture of the background contrasts beautifully with the skin of the pears and soft folds of the fabric.
