Ripe Tomatoes on a Fresh Tea Towel

A freshly laundered tea towel always reminds me of my mum. She always had a clean tea towel, ironed and ready to go. She was incredibly capable in the kitchen (not something I inherited.)  In this work I returned to the spidery stalks and luscious beauty of fresh tomatoes. The deep red of the tomatoes jumped off the Belgian Linen in a way I didn’t expect, again the linen tea towel contrasts well with the raw texture of the canvas.
